A new trailer for Wonka has just dropped, revealing the first look at the titular chocolate maker's factory. Directed by Paul King, the upcoming film serves as a prequel story for Willy Wonka, the eccentric chocolatier from Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Actor Timothée Chalamet takes on the lead role in the movie, with a story that charts one of his earliest adventures when he first meets the Oompa Loompas.

Now, ahead of the Wonka release date, Warner Bros. Pictures has shared a new trailer for the film, finally showing off the legendary chocolate factory. Check out the new trailer below:

After making a brief appearance in an earlier teaser, the latest trailer also features more of Hugh Grant's Oompa Loompa, who will seemingly be a major source of comedy in the film.

What The Wonka Trailer Reveals About The Movie

Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa in Wonka.

The latest trailer expands on much of what was featured in earlier looks at the film, including revealing more about the Wonka cast of characters. The central story will seemingly revolve around Wonka trying to set up shop as a chocolatier in a town that doesn't welcome such activities, with Paterson Joseph and Mathew Baynton, among others, playing wealthy elites trying to stop him. More of Keegan-Michael Key's police chief character is also shown off, with the comedian seemingly serving as a central antagonist.

In addition to the characters, the new Wonka trailer also hypes the film's emotional component and Willy's personal journey. While there is a strong sense of whimsy, adventure, and comedy, one scene in the trailer suggests that the bond between Willy and his mother, played by Sally Hawkins, could be an integral – and tear-jerking – part of the movie.

Of course, one of the central questions that long lingered about the movie was whether it would feature the iconic chocolate factory from Dahl's story. While the trailer is careful not to reveal too much, there are several new looks at the factory, suggesting its appearance has been inspired by Mel Stuart's 1971 classic, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, while also boasting its own unique design and atmosphere. It remains to be seen how Wonka will be received by audiences, but the latest trailer is a promising sign of things to come.
