What The Argylle Trailer Reveals About The Movie

Sam Rockwell jumping in the air and shooting someone in Argylle.

With the three Kingsman movies, Vaughn effectively blends over-the-top violence, humor, James Bond-esque style, and utterly wacky characters into one unique experience, and Argylle seems to be doing something similar. This time, however, instead of focusing purely on a spy organization, the film follows Elly Conway (Howard), a reclusive author of espionage novels. When Elly's Argylle novels, named as such for the spy at the center of them, begin to mirror real-world events, she finds herself on a globe-trotting adventure.

While Cavill's Argylle is the star in Elly's novels, the real-life spy the author finds herself paired with is a little more rough around the edges. Rockwell plays Aiden in the movie, and the trailer suggests that, while he may not look like the suave spies of Elly's novels, he certainly has the skills of one. Vaughn's recent movies have featured some fairly elaborate and intricately-choreographed action set pieces, and the trailer depicts Rockwell at the center of one such sequence aboard a passenger train.

As far as action goes, Argylle will seemingly have plenty of it. The trailer shows off action sequences both in the real-world with Rockwell and Elly, and in the fictional book world with Cavill, DeBose, and Cena. While many questions remain about Argylle, the film is certainly shaping up to be a wild ride with a bonkers Vaughn tone.
