The Creator trailer reveals a final look at the visually stunning sci-fi blockbuster, which is surprisingly emotional. From Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, the epic sci-fi film is set in a not-so-distant future amidst a war between humans and artificial intelligence. A former special forces agent, played by Tenet's John David Washington, is hired to destroy a world-ending weapon, only to discover it is actually an android child. The Creator cast also includes Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, and Oscar winner Allison Janney.

On Wednesday, ahead of The Creator's release date later this month, 20th Century Studios showcased the final trailer for the sci-fi epic. Watch it below:

Set to a moving score by Hans Zimmer, the trailer follows Washington as Joshua, a hardened soldier grieving the disappearance of his wife who finds a new purpose in protecting an android child that possesses the power to end humankind. Like past trailers, the final trailer shows off the film's stunning visuals, from its sweeping vistas to its sci-fi cityscapes.

The Final Creator Trailer Focuses On Its Father-Daughter Story

John David Washington in The Creator trailer

The Creator is a sci-fi movie about the conflict between humans and artificial intelligence replete with ambitious worldbuilding, breathtaking action, and jaw-dropping VFX. However, the final trailer focuses on how The Creator is ultimately a father-daughter story at heart, similar to Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us. Joshua, a soldier hardened by grief, is tasked with a specific objective, though his purpose changes drastically as he develops a meaningful father-like relationship with the young android called Alfie, played by child actress Madeleine Yuna Voyles.

The titular Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who engineered the android child as a world-ending weapon, is seemingly nowhere to be seen in the final trailer, which instead focuses on the father-daughter relationship between Joshua and Alfie. After all, the film's original was True Love, indicating how central this relationship is to the story. With Dune: Part Two delayed from this November to March 2024, The Creator will be the definitive sci-fi blockbuster releasing in theaters this fall on September 29.
