What The Totally Killer Trailer Reveals About The Movie

Not unlike movies like Freaky, Happy Death Day, and Scream, Totally Killer will very clearly be blending both horror and comedy. In fact, the trailer suggests the movie might actually feature more of the latter than the former, with plenty of jokes scattered throughout. Totally Killer carries an R rating for "bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/ alcohol use," and the red band trailer provides a glimpse at some of the raunchy jokes audiences can expect.

Totally Killer has previously been called out on social media for its similarities to 2015's The Final Girls, including by the director, Todd Strauss-Schulson. While the new trailer does highlight some of the similarities between the two movies, it also, however, shows some key differences in terms of its lead characters, comedic tone, and its portrayal of its 1980s setting.

The trailer also teases some Back to the Future-eseque time travel shenanigans, including Shipka's lead character interacting with a younger version of her mother. Also shown off in the trailer is much of the movie's supporting cast, which includes the likes of Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro, Troy Leigh-Ann Johnson, Liana Liberato, and Julie Bowen, among others. It remains to be seen whether Totally Killer will be a hit for Prime Video, but audiences now don't have much longer to wait before the new movie hits the streamer next month.
