What Events Will The Crown Season 6 Explore

One of the most important and tragic events involving the British royal family in recent memory is the death of Princess Diana in 1997. With the event still a sensitive subject today, there were many questions swirling after The Crown season 5 ending regarding how the Netflix show would approach the shocking car crash.

Peter Morgan, the show's creator, has already teased how The Crown will handle Princess Diana's death, making clear that, while the crash will not be depicted, the season will cover events directly before and after it. The Crown season 5 brought viewers up to 1997, with Diana invited to holiday in St. Tropez by Mohamed Al-Fayed (Salim Daw). Diana's vacation not long before her death will seemingly play a role in season 6, with set photos showing Debicki wearing a leopard print swimsuit resembling the real suit Diana wore during the summer of 1997.

Outside of the tragic storyline involving Princess Diana, The Crown will also be exploring the death's impact on William and Harry. In addition to Kampa's teenage William, an older version of the character played by Ed McVey will also feature, with a storyline covering his early relationship with Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy). As previously teased with an image from Netflix, The Crown season 6 will go up to at least 2005 with the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
