He had brought his fiancé Larissa Lima from Brazil to America so they could get married. Colt's marriage with Larissa was a complete disaster and even led to her arrests amid alleged domestic disputes. Colt had met Vanessa while he was still with Larissa. They became good friends, but Colt later cheated on his new girlfriend Jess Caroline with Vanessa. Once Jess was out of the picture, Colt proceeded to date Vanessa, even though she was not interested in doing so.
But Colt and Vanessa surprisingly became a 90 Day Fiancé success story once they eloped. The couple is still together after 90 Day: The Single Life season 1. Vanessa's taking care of him now as Colt recovers from his horrifying accident back in December 2022; she's been sharing updated about his health via Instagram as Colt remains absent from social media.
In September 2023, Vanessa revealed there was a possibility that Colt was going to get a fourth surgery. Vanessa has now confirmed that the surgery has been scheduled. She posted a picture of a smiling Colt on her Instagram Stories and wrote, "One more surgery in December and hopefully his last," with heart and crossed-fingers emojis.

Colt posted a photo of Colt lying down in a hospital bed on January 2, 2023. There was a brace around his right leg and he had a pained expression on his face even as he did a thumbs-up. In her caption, Vanessa revealed what happened to Colt. She said that he suffered an accident on December 2, 2022. It caused a dislocated and broken leg. Colt had a tibia/fibula fracture with a torn meniscus. After the accident, Colt was hospitalized for two weeks. His anesthesia and pain medicines made it impossible for his bladder to function well.
Colt had to use a catheter and was also unable to put any weight on his leg because he was unable to bend it. He has undergone three surgeries so far. The journey had been nothing but rough. According to Vanessa, Colt’s recovery time was six to eight months. However, now that it’s October, Colt still seems to not have fully recovered. He had to learn how to walk again. The accident took a toll on him physically, mentally, and emotionally. After speculation mounted over what caused the accident, Vanessa eventually revealed that they were filming a scene involving trampolines and things went terribly wrong.
The accident happened during the filming of 90 Day: The Last Resort. They were supposed to be one of the couples on the show. Colt and Vanessa seemingly refused to film 90 Day Fiancé anymore and were replaced by Molly Hopkins and Kelly Brown. Being one of the most popular faces in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, it does seem like Colt could return to the franchise someday, though it remains to be seen what will happen once Colt fully recovers after his final surgery this year.
