Getting Nyrulna in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great decision, as the Legendary trident is arguably the best weapon in the entire game. You will have to partake in a short side mission to put your hands on this piece of gear, but the small effort and Gold investment are certainly worth it. Of course, the weapon can only be equipped by those who are proficient with Tridents, but if they are, Nyrulna is easily one of the strongest ones in its category. This Legendary weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3 comes with a fantastic set of skills that open up a plethora of combat strategies in Act 3.

Nyrulna can only be unlocked in the late portions of the game, but even if it is not used during most of the CRPG experience crafted by Larian Studios, the short period in which it is available can significantly boost your experience. This weapon is a must-have for Paladins and Fighters who are looking to increase their melee prowess and long-distance damage. To obtain Nyrulna, however, players will have to make their way up to Rivington, the starting area in Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3, just after leaving the Shadow-Cursed lands of Act 2. There, they will find the Circus of the Last Days, where Nyrulna can be claimed.

Win Akabi’s Jackpot In Baldur’s Gate 3 (Beat Akabi’s Cheating)

Akabi the Djinni from Baldurs Gate 3 extends his hand.

The Legendary Trident Nyrulna is directly connected to the Wheel of Wonders experience in the Circus of the Last Days. After getting access to the carnival-like festivities, either by bribing the guard or persuading him – or perhaps even lockpicking the side gate – you can encounter a red djinni called Akabi, who is next to a wheel.

You can then spin the wheel for a chance at the jackpot, and each spin costs 500 Gold. The deal with this activity, however, is that the wheel is rigged, so it is impossible to win the jackpot in Baldur’s Gate 3 unless you solve a small puzzle.

If you spun the wheel with a character that has a high Wisdom stat, you probably pass a Perception check that makes you notice that Akabi is cheating. The source of his manipulation of the wheel is an item called Djinni Ring, which is attached to his beard. In order to actually win the jackpot and get closer to Nyrulna in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will have to remove Djinni Ring from Akabi’s inventory.

The best way of doing this is using your stealthiest character with the best Dexterity stat, such as Astarion, and pickpocketing Akabi. In his inventory, you will see several items, including Djinni Ring.

You should quicksave the game before doing this, so you can safely reload in case the pickpocketing does not work out as intended.

Once the Djinni Ring has been successfully removed from Akabi’s inventory, you will be one step closer to obtaining the Legendary trident Nyrulna. Without his Djinni Ring, you will need to spin the Wheel of Wonders once again, for 500 Gold. At this point, you will automatically win the jackpot, so there is no need for multiple spins.

Realizing you cheated on his own trickery, Akabi will be furious and send you to a map called the Jungle, which he claims is the prize for winning the jackpot. At first, this may seem like a problem, but it is actually part of the process.

Baldur's Gate 3 Player Character Looting Nyrulna In Akabi's Jackpot Jungle

Upon arriving at the Jungle map in Baldur’s Gate 3, you may move your camera around to notice that the area is full of dinosaur-like creatures roaming about. The monsters called Chult Alioramus are aggressive and will attack you on sight. Here, you will have two ways of proceeding: offense or stealth.

If you choose to engage in battle, you will have to defeat a small group of dinosaurs blocking the way to Nyrulna. These creatures have a decent amount of health, so it may take a while to defeat all of them, especially when they start ganging up on your characters. Nevertheless, beating the encounter should clear the path.

Alternatively, you can opt to use stealth in Baldur’s Gate 3 to make your way across the map. The dinosaurs in the Jungle map have a heightened sense and may detect you even if your character is invisible and crouching. Regardless, passing through without starting a fight is a very possible option and one that should be chosen if your HP and resources are limited. If they are not faced, you will miss out on some EXP, but it may be worth it in case your group is at risk of dying. Ultimately the goal is to reach the end of the area, near a purple portal.

If you are choosing to use stealth, it may be easier to go in with a single stealth-focused character. To ensure the entire party does not come along, you will need to split the party and win Akabi’s jackpot with the desired character so that he may only cast that specific hero into the Jungle.

Before heading through the portal and returning to the regular realm, you will need to interact with the nearby Painted Chest. Inside, you will find the Legendary trident Nyrulna. Once it has been claimed, you can equip it with your desired character. If you left your group split, you may have to return through the portal before assigning Nyrulna to the character you want. If your own character cannot equip it, companions like Lae’zel and Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 are very compatible with its bonuses.

Why Nyrulna Is So Good In Baldur’s Gate 3

Nyrulna has the reputation as the best weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3 for a series of reasons. The first of them is that it boasts fantastic offensive stats, some of the highest in the game. The weapon can deal a lot of Piercing and Thunder damage with a good roll. What makes it even better, however, are its skills.

Zephyr Connection makes it impossible to be disarmed from the equipping character and, in addition to that, it automatically returns to their hand when it is thrown. Nyrulna also provides benefits when thrown, as it creates a Thunder-based explosion for a 6-meter radius around its target.

This makes it a good weapon for long-distance combat as well as clearing clusters of weaker enemies. Having Nyrulna equipped also makes the user Immune to falling damage and increases their movement speed and jump distance by 3 meters, significantly improving exploration.

Nyrulna also glows in a 6-meter radius, making it an asset in darker areas. All of these perks combined make Nyrulna the best Legendary weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3, and an absolute necessity once you arrive in Act 3.
