Quick Links

One of the earliest bosses you will face in The Lords of The Fallen is Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, the first opponent you will have to beat through two separate phases. Armed with a holy sword and plenty of magic, Pieta can be a tough challenge as you are still learning the game's mechanics. You will have to take advantage of specific weaknesses to make Pieta much easier to contend with.

You encounter Pieta close to the Iron Wayfarer, a landmark past the Abandoned Redcopse Windmill in front of a large cathedral. This boss will attack you once you have already lost to the Lightreaper in Lords of The Fallen, serving as an enemy you can defeat. There is little gear to collect along the path to this boss, making the fight a test of knowledge about gameplay systems and reading enemy attack patterns.

Best Items & Spells to Use Against Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal

Lords of the Fallen Preview Main

To understand what items and spells work best against Pieta, remember Pieta's only two vulnerabilities. The angel-like entity is weak to Fire and Wither attacks, taking significantly more damage from either type throughout both phases. Fire Salts and Wither Salts, consumable items in Lords of The Fallen that apply both damage types to your weapon, are excellent tools for your fight with Pieta.

Some classes start with better equipment to face bosses early on, like the Dark Crusader in Lords of The Fallen, who begins with a Paladin armor set and Paladin Issac's Sword.

This also applies to spells since Inferno magic causes Fire damage that will significantly injure Pieta every time you land a successful arcane attack. While your options will be limited from the start of Lords of The Fallen, you will still have simple spells that produce enough flames to harm Pieta. Classes like the Pyric Cultist can wield fire magic through the Infernal Orb spell, giving them an advantage that other characters may not get against the boss.

How To Defeat Pieta (Phase 1)

The Lords of The Fallen Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal Phase 1 Boss Cutscene with Holy Sword to Defeat

For the initial phase against Pieta, you will want to dodge her long sword attacks and wait for her aggressive animations to finish before going on the offensive. Enemies in Lords of The Fallen can sometimes leave impacted marks on the ground that explode after a short time, making the environment dangerous. This boss has at least two attacks in phase 1 that apply this effect for you to consistently avoid.

Attack

Description

How to Beat

Smiting Stab

Pieta lunges forward toward you, extending their enchanted sword outward in a stab.

Block the physical strike or Dodge to the side to avoid taking damage.

Sword Slashes

Pieta swings their sword from side to side, usually up to two times in a row, attempting to hit anything standing near.

Dodge toward Pieta after the second swing to get close, opening up a window to deal damage with your attacks.

Leaping Strike

Pieta jumps up before attacking down at the ground in front of you after a short moment. The area hit explodes with Smite shortly after this attack.

Stay away from Pieta as you see them rise into the air, then Dodge to either side to avoid the Smite explosion on the ground.

Holy Beam

A ranged attack is unleashed by Pieta through their sword, leaving a trail of small Smite explosions along the ground in a line.

Avoid standing near the line created by the beam while running away from the initial beam.

How To Defeat Pieta (Phase 2)

Lords of The Fallen Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal Phase 2 with Wing and Specter Attacks to Defeat

When you take down around 30% of Pieta's health bar, they will begin phase 2, where you have to be patient while staying away from much larger Area of Effect (AoE) attacks. It's much harder to approach Pieta during this phase since their attacks cover more of the arena. New variations of the attacks seen in Phase 1 return here, with extra properties that make them difficult to anticipate in Lords of The Fallen.

Attack

Description

How to Beat

Ranged Sword Strikes

Pieta launches two swords forward at your character from a distance and is usually followed up by the Line of Swords attack.

Dodge or Move to the side to evade the ranged attacks, which are fairly easy to react to.

Diving Swing

Pieta uses their new wings to dive from the air, damaging anything as they move quickly to the ground.

Dodge to one side to avoid this attack since it only goes in a straight line.

Line of Swords

Following the Ranged Sword Strikes, Pieta will have swords suspended in the air and fall toward the ground in a linear direction.

Stay away from the line the swords appear in, either by Dodging or Moving out of the way.

Flying Slashes

While flying in the air, Pieta swings their sword similar to the Sword Slashes from Phase 1, but now from a position that is hard to counter.

Dodge toward Pieta to remain close, allowing you to deal some damage when Pieta lands back on the ground.

Flying Stab

Also, Pieta uses their Smiting Stab attack from the sky from their spot in the air.

Similar to the last attack, Dodge forward to stay close as Pieta lands.

Rain of Swords

Pieta creates several floating swords that fall in separate sections toward your character over a longer period.

Steer clear of the AoE where the swords are about to fall; there should be a visual indication of the blades dropping beforehand.

Mirage Double

Pieta summons a Specter double that swings a melee attack at your character to confuse you.

Anticipate the Specter and Block/Dodge the physical strike.

Twin Specters

Pieta creates two Specters that fly in a linear path, leaving a Line of Swords as they travel.

Find the small gap between both Specters to avoid both sword paths.

Ranged Twin Specters

Pieta once again calls upon two Specters to shoot Holy Beam attacks from a distance.

Follow where both Specter's swords point to track where the Beam attacks will come from, then quickly Dodge.

Once Pieta falls, you will be rewarded with the boss' Remembrance, which you can exchange with the character Molhu to receive a full set of armor and Blessed Reflections. You will also gain a Vestige Seed and 10 Umbral Scouring for managing to beat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, in The Lords of The Fallen.
