The struggle is real for Miles Morales these days. His Spider-Sense has been on the fritz since going up against Rabble and Carnage, he's on the run from an anti-vigilante group calling themselves the Cape Killers, and he just saw his first vampire. On the bright side, a couple of vampire hunters have just shown up to help him out and give him some anti-vamp threads.

Spider-Man is no stranger to working with an older mentor figure, whether an Avenger or X-Man. This time, however, he's also being paired up with another young hero undergoing her own training - Blade's daughter Brielle Brooks, also known as Bloodline. Sixteen years old, and newly under attack now that Doctor Strange's spell that hid her has dissipated, Brielle has more in comon with Miles than her dad. But they're all going to have to work together in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11 by Cody Ziglar, Federica Mancin and Bryan Valenzia.

Miles Morales Spider-Man 11 Preview 1

In the following preview pages, readers get their first peek at Miles' all-new look.

Blade Gives Miles Morales a Halloween to Remember

Miles is shocked that vampires have been in Brooklyn, though Blade assures him their rise is a recent predicament. Even with all the stress he's been under, Spidey still wants to help the vampire-hunting duo, as this is his neighborhood. He recently christened a brand-new power called the Venom-Saber, and this is a perfect chance to use it. Blade welcomes the help, but acknowledges Miles needs a little extra something special for this fight.

More than just a cool outfit, Miles' new costume has some extra tricks just for hunting vampires. There's a utility belt, with what looks like a custom Spider-Sai. His webs have been infused with holy water, a strong weapon in the fight against vamps. Ancient magics are also part of "that little venom thing you do," meaning his Venom Strike and Venom-Saber have just gotten serious upgrades. The higher neckline also protects Miles from a vampire's favorite place to bite, giving him some defensive power. This scene echoes Blade giving his own daughter a new vampire-hunting outfit in Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #4 by Danny Lore and Karen Darboe. As Brielle's jacket has special pockets for stakes, that may be what else Miles' new utility belt also holds.

However, Miles is currently struggling with his mental health, so taking on an entirely new breed of villain might not be the best thing for him. His Spider-Sense is working on overdrive, making him jumpy when there isn't a threat around. Blade giving Miles actual tools to work with, that don't depend on his Spider-Man powers may be more useful than he realizes. The preview promises that he and Blade won't see eye-to-eye in this fight, but what Miles Morales needs more than ever right now is support.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11 is available October 17 from Marvel Comics.
