Warning! Spoilers ahead for Wolverine #21

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Wolverine, Wade Wilson's Deadpool has reintegrated an old piece of classic tech (with some new upgrades). Desperately wanting to be welcomed to the X-Men's island nation of Krakoa and to rejoin X-Force, Wade Wilson has improvised an "audition" of sorts to prove himself worthy in the eyes of Wolverine. While Logan has been less than impressed by Deadpool's attempts thus far, perhaps Wade's new gadgets will give him the edge he needs to show that he can be a valuable asset (despite his more annoying qualities).

While almost every mutant was given the chance to be a part of Krakoa, Deadpool wasn't one of them seeing as how he's technically not a genuine mutant. The X-Men also ran the numbers and concluded that there's a 97% chance Deadpool would burn everything to the ground if they did invite him on a permanent basis. Even so, that didn't stop him from trying all sorts of ways to sneak onto the island (failing every time). Now, Wade believes that helping Wolverine recover his severed hand from the CIA's X-Desk could be Deadpool's ticket back onto X-Force. Wade and Logan have also uncovered a much bigger conspiracy against mutantkind involving robots who look like the X-Men controlled by Danger herself (the living manifestation of the Danger Room).

In the new Wolverine #21 from Benjamin Percy and Adam Kubert, part of Deadpool's chaotic audition has seen him remixing his classic hits. After visiting his old pal Weasel (who'd love to see him dead), Deadpool has regained his image inducer, a device he used back in the day to create holographic disguises. Now, the upgraded model allows him to do much more like project moving duplicates and mirages. However, the inducer is just one gadget amongst a hilarious new arsenal Weasel was less than happy to provide.

Of course, there are some perfectly bizarre items in the arsenal list that comically stand out such as a projection of former X-Men writer and comic legend Jonathan Hickman on a unicycle, something that's concerningly named Mr. Tickle Fingers, and a copy of Deadpool's own first appearance (albeit in horrible condition). However, there are some useful items like two "big-ass guns", grenades, an EMP, and something that's mysteriously been redacted with a note warning that it should only be used in case of emergencies. Wade also has fart gas and Rubik's Cube (because why not?). However, the most notable item beyond the upgraded inducer is the return of Wade's teleportation belt, something Deadpool had given up a while back in previous comic runs because he claimed it made his work "too easy".

Clearly, Deadpool is hoping that his new 2.0 gear will impress Krakoa and help get him back on X-Force in the near future. However, it's probably going to take a lot more than that to convince Wolverine. That being said, uncovering a massive government conspiracy against mutantkind feels like a good start. Here's hoping Deadpool's dream to reunite with X-Force pays off in the issues to come from Marvel Comics.
