Darkseid is the undisputed lord of evil in the DC Universe. His name strikes fear into the hearts of even the publisher’s most powerful beings, including Superman. Darkseid’s schemes have nearly brought the universe to its knees on multiple occasions. Darkseid has a seemingly endless army of goons and sycophants at his disposal, and he does not hesitate to maneuver them like pieces on a chess board. He also has quite an extensive family.

As befitting a being of Darkseid’s stature, the members of his family are also quite powerful. Here are the top 10 members of Darkseid’s family, ranked weakest to strongest.

10 Tigra, Darkseid's Lover

Tigra DC Darkseid Wife

Darkseid has had more than one romantic partner in his days, and Tigra was one of his earliest liasons. However, thanks to the manipulations of Darkseid’s mother, theirs was a loveless marriage, although it did bring forth Orion. Tigra possesses no real powers that set her apart from the rest of the New Gods. While this makes Tigra powerful by human standards, it puts her at the bottom of this list.

9 Grayven, Darkseid's Son

Green Lantern and Darkseid Son Grayven

Darksied’s third son, Grayven, is a late addition to the Fourth World Canon, first appearing in 1996’s Green Lantern #72. Grayven’s mother is unknown, but he closely resembles his father. Although Grayven may be the weakest of Darkseid’s sons, his power is still immense. The bloodthirsty Grayven used it to massacre the Darkstars, an intergalactic police force similar to the Green Lantern Corps. Grayven went as far as to try and challenge his father, but was defeated.

8 Suli, Darkseid's First Wife

Darkseid’s first wife, and perhaps the only woman he truly loved, Suli is also powerful in her own right. She married Darkseid against the wishes of his mother Heggra, who had DeSaad poison Suli. The loss shattered Darkseid and losing her helped shape Darkseid into the brutal conqueror he is today. Suli, in addition to having all the standard New God powers, also dabbled in the occult and magic, giving her an extra advantage.

7 Kalibak, Darkseid's Son

Darkseid Son Kalibak DC Comics

Kalibak is the product of Darkseid and Suli’s secret marriage, and serves as his father’s second-in-command. Known as “Kalibak the Cruel,” he is super strong and super fast, having fought Superman to a stand still several times. He uses his sheer brute strength to overwhelm his opponents on the battlefield. He also possesses the Beta Club, a terrifying device that can cause excruciating pain.

6 Orion, Darkseid's Son

Orion DC

Orion is Darkseid’s son by Tigra. As part of a pact between Apokolips and New Genesis, the infant Orion was sent to live with Highfather while his son Scott went to live with Darkseid. Orion possesses all the standard New Gods powers, including super strength and durability. He also can wield the “Astro Force,” a sliver of the Source, which he uses through his harness. With this, Orion can manipulate reality and heal himself. This Astro Force makes Orion the most powerful of Darkseid’s sons.

5 Steppenwolf, Darkseid's Uncle

Steppenwolf Defeats Superboy.

Darkseid’s uncle, Steppenwolf is also one of his most trusted generals, and a formidable villain in his own right. With his enormous Electro-Axe, Steppenwolf has taken many of DC’s heaviest hitters, including Superman, down to the wire. Steppenwolf is an integral member of Darkseid’s army and so impressive is his power that he was the main villain in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

4 Grail, Darkseid's Daughter

The daughter of Darkseid and the Amazonian assassin Myrina, Grail is the newest addition to Darkseid’s family, appearing in 2015’s Justice League #40. Grail was born at the same time as Wonder Woman. In addition to her New Gods powers, Grail can also use Amazonian magic, unlike Darkseid’s sons. Grail also inherited her father’s Omega Beams, something his other children lack.

3 Highfather, Darkseid's Brother

Darkseid’s brother and the leader of New Genesis, Izaya the Highfather is immensely powerful. He is super strong like all denizens of New Genesis and was able to defeat the fear entity Parallax with a single punch. Highfather is also super durable and possesses Cosmic Awareness, which allows him to sense evil throughout the universe; along similar lines he also has psychic powers.

2 Drax/The Infinity Man, Darkseid's Brother

Infinity Man DC Darksied Family

Another brother of Darkseid, Drax, also known as the Infinity Man, is the patron of the Forever People. Granted his fantastic powers by a dying entity named Astorr, Drax took the name the Infinity Man and entered the service of Highfather. As an enhanced New God, Drax has a number of powers available to him, including the ability to fire energy blasts out of his hands that are powerful enough to kill other New Gods. He possesses other energy-based powers too, including the ability to nullify energy weapons, as well as the ability to manipulate electromagnetism.

1 Yuga Khan, Darkseid's Father

yuga khan darkseid justice league

Darkseid’s father, and perhaps the only being in the universe he fears. As the first ruler of Apokolips, Yuga Khan instigated a reign of terror that was only later matched by his son. Yuga Khan is believed by many to be a relic of the Old Gods, the predecessor of the Fourth World. Like his son, Yuga Khan lusted after the power of the Source, but like everyone else who tried to harness it, he was turned to stone and displayed on the Source Wall as a reminder to those who would try. In his absence, Darkseid took the throne of Apokolips for himself and the rest was history. Yuga Khan returned once to try and challenge his son, and was nearly successful.

Darkseid is more than just his conquests and battles–his family, including his multiple children, is also an integral part of his legacy. Each of them is a member of the Fourth World, which makes them all extremely powerful.
