In association with the film's Japanese production company Toei Animation, North American distributor Fathom Events has announced a US theatrical run for the new Digimon anime movie, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
On November 8 and 9, 2023, in 750 participating theaters across the United States, Fathom Events will be holding special screenings of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning at 7:00 pm local time. A synopsis of the new movie has been provided by distributor Fathom Events:
It’s 2012, and ten years have passed since the adventure in the Digital World. Daisuke Motomiya is now twenty, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined seem to be changing bit by bit in terms of appearance and lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appears in the sky over Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he’s the first ever DigiDestined in the world.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was originally released in Japan at the start of October 2023. The movie is a direct sequel to the 2020 reboot movie Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna and a more distant sequel to the original Digimon Adventure 02 anime series
The New Digimon Reboot Movie Is Coming To US Theaters In English And Japanese
The special screenings of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning taking place on November 8 and 9 will take place in both English and Japanese. The November 8 screenings will play the new movie with an English dub, while the November 9 screenings will play it in the original Japanese with English subtitles. Additionally, these screenings will feature an introduction to the new movie by its director, Tomohisa Taguchi.
As a bonus, the first 50 attendees of these screenings will receive a complimentary pack of Digimon Card Game Tamer Party Pack -THE BEGINNING- ver. 2.0 themed tie-in cards on a first come, first served basis. These cards were created to commemorate the release of the new movie and these screenings will be the first chance to own these special cards before they go live to the general public in December 2023. Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is the latest release in the Digimon franchise which began in 1997. The previous full-length movie, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, was released in 2020, the same year as a remake of the original Digimon Adventure anime. In addition to the release of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, a re-release of the original Digimon: The Movie is scheduled for 2023.
