Summary

  • A new teaser for The Marvels suggests Captain Marvel will reunite with Avengers, further expanding the MCU universe.
  • Captain Marvel mentions calling a friend before the Bifrost appears, hinting at a possible crossover with Thor.
  • Exciting new TV spot reveals Captain Marvel's new spaceship, The Hoopty, and teases an epic adventure in upcoming Marvel movie.

Captain Marvel could be about to reunite with an Avenger she fought side by side with in Avengers: Endgame in the MCU's upcoming The Marvels. That confirmation seemingly comes thanks to the latest teaser for the next Marvel movie, which hits theaters on November 10, and will see Brie Larson's hero team-up with both Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Paris).

The TV spot for the upcoming MCU movie, which has just hit the Internet, includes a shot of Captain Marvel herself saying that she "called a friend" before Asgard's Bifrost blasts into Carol Danvers' new spaceship, The Hoopty, as spotted by ThorUpdate on x.com:

The appearance of the Bifrost points directly towards one of Thor's main characters, and logically pays off older rumors that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie will join the fight against new Kree villain Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). She has vowed revenge on Danvers after the defeat of the Kree Empire back in the 1990s, using her powers to tie Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Monica Rambeau's superpowers together so they swap positions any time they use them. Given how powerful Dar-Benn looks, Captain Marvel calling in the heavy artillery is a logical step, particularly after Danvers and Valkyrie fought together in Endgame's Battle of Earth.

More Evidence Valkyrie Appears In The Marvels

The Marvels new TV spot isn't the first time Valkyrie's cameo has come to collective attention. Back in January 2022, a set photo posted by a member of the art department for the sequel featured headshots for the cast and conspicuously included a shot of Tessa Thompson alongside the other actors. The original IG post has since been deleted, but was first spotted by x.com user haIobearers:

Why Captain Marvel calls Valkyrie when the Kree are not her enemy isn't certain, but the heroes know one another from Endgame, and crucially, their friendship could pay off rumors of a romance between Danvers and Valkyrie, which were actually addressed by Tessa Thompson in July 2022:

"I, you know, the heart wants what it wants. I don't… I can't speak yet to Valkyrie. She hasn't had a ton of time to focus too squarely on her love life since she's been besought with a lot of kingly duties. But there are a lot of amazing men, women, other-wordly creatures inside of the MCU and certainly in the canon of characters that could enter the MCU. So, I think there's so many fish in the sea. She's single. She's ready to mingle. And I love, both in the comics, Carol and I… Brie Larson is a good friend of mine and I love spending time with her. So, I wouldn't be mad at it, for sure."

That would certainly be a popular development for the countless Marvle fans who have shipped the pair, though to see it paid off in The Marvels would also be a surprise, given Marvel's notoriously hands-off approach to LGBTQ representation in the MCU.
