A new featurette promoting The Marvels might have accidentally spoiled the ending of the upcoming MCU Phase 5 film. As a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel, The Marvels will mark the return of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU. She'll be joined by WandaVision's Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, and Secret Invasion's Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, forming a new space-faring superhero team. Trailers for The Marvels have uncovered a cosmic mystery for the superpowered trio, as their light-based powers have been entangled by a new MCU villain, Zawe Ashton's vengeful Dar-Benn.

The Marvels is set to release on November 10, 2023, as part of the MCU's Phase 5 and is speculated to be pivotal to the overarching storyline of the Multiverse Saga. Though the exact nature of The Marvels' storyline is unclear, trailers for the film have confirmed the trio's entanglement, causing them to switch places every time they use their abilities. Dar-Benn will be introduced as a Kree warrior with a vendetta against Captain Marvel, whom she refers to as "The Annihilator." While The Marvels is expected to feature an epic battle between Captain Marvel, Photon, Ms. Marvel, and Dar-Benn, the outcome of this fight may have already been revealed.

New The Marvel's Promo Video Seemingly Spoils The Movie's Final Battle

A new featurette released by Marvel Studios on October 10, 2023, titled "Introducing The Marvels," delivered more insight into the upcoming project, including some new footage and interviews with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, director Nia DaCosta, and actors Larson, Parris, Vellani, and Ashton. The focus of the promo video is on Carol Danvers' new responsibility as a leader in the MCU, thrust into a team-up situation after spending so much time by herself. However, one moment in the featurette may have inadvertently spoiled the outcome of the film's final battle, which might have already confirmed the downfall of the new Kree villain, Dar-Benn.

Towards the end of "Introducing The Marvels," Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers, and Monica Rambeau can be seen, presumably following their big fight against Dar-Benn in a mysterious, undisclosed location. Previous trailers for The Marvels have confirmed that Dar-Benn will be the owner of a mystical bangle strikingly similar to the one that unlocked Ms. Marvel's abilities in her debut Disney+ series. It's this bangle that has been suspected to have caused the Marvels' entanglement issues, but during the featurette, Danvers can be seen holding it while Kamala is still wearing hers. This suggests that Dar-Benn is defeated at the end of The Marvels, and the trio thankfully solves their problems.

The Marvels Is Still Worth Watching Despite The Ending Possibly Being Revealed

Unfortunately, the possibility that The Marvels' ending might have already been revealed in a simple featurette may be off-putting for some viewers, and since The Marvels' early box office projections are already disappointing, this could be detrimental to the Phase 5 project. However, even though Dar-Benn's defeat in The Marvels may seem inevitable, the upcoming film is certainly still worth watching, as it has been suggested to be crucial to the ever-expanding storyline of the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Taking place deep within Phase 5 and focusing on a very cosmic storyline, The Marvels could certainly set up some important plot points for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

During a recent interview with Empire Magazine, director Nia DaCosta revealed new information about The Marvels, which included uncovering a potentially-universe-threatening storyline that could unfold in the upcoming film. DaCosta mentioned that, as well as battling Dar-Benn and solving the mystery of their switching places, Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan would also be "preventing the destabilization of the universe." This suggests that The Marvels will be key in continuing to develop the multiversal concepts that were introduced in the MCU's Phase 4, particularly the idea of incursions from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which the trio could face in the upcoming project.

If an incursion happens in The Marvels, Dar-Benn won't be the only villain the titular team faces, so the film hasn't been completely ruined by Marvel Studios' new featurette. In fact, Danvers collecting the bangle from Dar-Benn could be a fake-out ending, as the audience may believe that the adventure is over and the heroes have succeeded, only for something even more catastrophic to occur. Captain Marvel is expected to be a prominent member of the MCU's new Avengers team in Phase 6, so The Marvels could take huge strides in setting up the multiversal storylines of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, meaning it's still worth the watch.
