Despite a surprising production shake-up, Daredevil: Born Again is already confirmed for a second season in the MCU. After reprising his role as Matthew Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, Charlie Cox's the Devil from Hell's Kitchen was eventually given his own Marvel Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. The 18-episode project is the franchise's longest TV show. Apparently, before it even premieres, there are already plans beyond its freshman year.

Marvel's Unexpected Daredevil: Born Again Overhaul Explained

Officially announced during Marvel Studios' 2022 San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel, Daredevil: Born Again is arguably one of the most exciting TV projects that the MCU has on its roster. Initially scheduled for a Spring 2024 premiere, it was pulled out from the release calendar, with delays expected due to the dual Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, the new bombshell report claims that the production has been also going through issues, with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were booted out from the project in late September, as well as the directors of the last 9 episodes after its first half have already been shot.

The creative revamp came after Marvel executives decided that the series wasn't working. Now, the show is on the hunt for new writers, while Feige and his team attempt to use as much as they can from the material that has already been filmed for the series. While there's always pressure for Marvel Studios to come up with great content, considering what they were able to achieve with the Infinity Saga, there's added scrutiny with Daredevil: Born Again because of how successful Netflix's Daredevil was. In any case, it's for the better that Marvel Studios recognized that the new series wasn't shaping up the way that they wanted it to, and instead of risking it, they chose to re-evaluate.

Still, it's clear that Marvel Studios has some issues to sort out with their TV division. The majority of their Disney+ offerings have been either divisive or outright bad. Loki has been a rarity in a way that both of its seasons are getting generally positive reviews. Moving forward, however, hopefully, Daredevil: Born Again is the last MCU small-screen project to encounter significant production issues.
