Ben Affleck's returns as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, in new MCU fan art promoting Marvel Studios' upcoming Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds will be joining the MCU in 2024's Deadpool 3, marking the first time a character from another Marvel movie franchise has jumped to Marvel Studios permanently. Along with him, however, several actors will reprise their superhero roles for cameos in Deadpool 3, including the likes of Hugh Jackman, Stefan Kapičić, and Jennifer Garner, who portrayed Elektra Natchios in 2003's Daredevil and 2005's Elektra. Deadpool 3 could be the MCU's biggest multiverse-centric project yet, with many actors from a variety of Marvel movie franchises returning, including Garner's own Daredevil co-star.

Although there has been no confirmation from Marvel Studios, new fan art shared by AGT Design imagines what Ben Affleck's return as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, from Fox's 2003 film may look like in Deadpool 3. Loki's Time Variance Authority has been heavily rumored to have a part to play in Deadpool 3, also, and the art suggests Daredevil and Deadpool may be captured by the omnipotent organization.

With Loki season 2 reintroducing the TVA to the MCU prior to 2024's Deadpool 3, it's possible that the organization could be involved in the upcoming project. This would perfectly explain Ben Affleck's return as Matt Murdock, reuniting him with Garner's Elektra.

Ben Affleck’s MCU Return Would Be The Perfect Redemption

Ben Affleck debuted as Matt Murdock in 2003's Daredevil, commenting on how he felt destined for the role as Daredevil had been his favorite comic book character as a child, and artist Joe Quesada even mentioned that he based a version of the character on Affleck. Despite his passion for the role, Affleck's Daredevil received a mixed response, so his return as Matt Murdock in the MCU's Phase 5 could provide the perfect opportunity for him to redeem himself. The same can be said for Jennifer Garner, whose solo 2005 project as Elektra Natchios was panned, so the duo can reunite to mend past mistakes in Deadpool 3.

Outside the MCU, Ben Affleck has had a tumultuous few years portraying Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, in the DC Extended Universe. After being denied a solo project as Batman and being relegated to bit-roles in various projects, Affleck has now been confirmed not to be reprising the role at all following his cameo in 2023's The Flash. This perhaps means his schedule is open for his return as Daredevil in Deadpool 3. Deadpool 3 is the perfect opportunity for Ben Affleck to return before Charlie Cox truly cements himself as the official Daredevil of the MCU in Phase 5's Daredevil: Born Again.
