Summary

  • The absence of Avengers films has made the MCU feel empty without its heroes being connected and interacting with one another.
  • The MCU needs more scenes like Avengers: Age of Ultron's party scene, where the heroes have fun together and show a different side of themselves.
  • Future Avengers movies should include more bonding moments like the Avengers Tower party to address fans' complaints about the lack of connection between heroes.

Some of the Avengers — Spider-Man, Captain America, and Iron Man — appear in a fun video that exemplifies the kind of Avengers Tower scenes that the Marvel Cinematic Universe should have brought to life. There have been four films for Earth's Mightiest Heroes so far, with the MCU's Avengers movies now on a break — Phases 4 and 5 not having one — until 2026's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty arrives to send Phase 6 into high gear. The absence of Avengers films has shown how the MCU feels empty without its heroes being connected and interacting with one another.

On TikTok, @tugboat_spenny shared a video edit that shows MCU's Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America actors dancing and singing as they morph from one to the other.

The MCU's original six Avengers — Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye — had the time to shine together in action against multiple armies of enemies but more intimate scenes with the heroes just having fun together at Avengers Tower were kept to a minimum. Much like the video, the MCU could have done with more silly moments shared between its heroes at Avengers Tower before Marvel stopped using the location and some of the Avengers died or retired.

The MCU's Avengers Movies Need More Scenes Like Age of Ultron's Party Scene

Age of Ultron Avengers Tower Party

The MCU really needs more scenes like Avengers: Age of Ultron's Avengers Tower party. Seeing the MCU's biggest heroes interact with one another in a different context was refreshing, with Avengers: Age of Ultron's party showing what these fantastical heroes were like in their daily lives and how they could fit together without having to fight to save the world. There were numerous fun moments that came from the ordeal, such as Stan Lee's character being carried out after getting drunk due to trying an Asgardian drink and Thor looking worried as Captain America made Mjolnir budge when attempting to pick it up. The Avengers movies need more of that.

The original Avengers have had four team-up movies and several solo films, with many making appearances in each other's franchises and most appearing in Captain America: Civil War. That level of contact allowed the team to feel like a family despite the heroes not actually getting many bonding moments like Avengers: Age of Ultron's Avengers Tower party. While having more fun, casual moments between the original Avengers would have been great, it is even more important that the MCU's future Avengers movies include more scenes like the Avengers Tower party than if past films had done so.

The MCU's Phase 4 projects were extremely divisive, and Phase 5 has been the same. A new Avengers team will assemble in 2026's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, then return to close out the Multiverse Saga in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. Two of the main criticisms related to the MCU post-Infinity Saga are that the universe feels aimless and the connection between its heroes is not there, with recent additions like Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, and She-Hulk having yet to meet. By featuring a healthy dose of bonding moments, such as Avengers: Age of Ultron's party scene, the MCU's next Avengers movies can fix some of the fans' complaints.
