What We Know About Disney+’s Ironheart So Far

Ironheart's second suit of armor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Thorne returns to lead Ironheart. She will be joined by Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins, aka The Hood. The Marvel villain in the comics was shown in footage revealed at 2022's D23 Expo to at least initially appear to be an ally to Ironheart. The show is also set to include young Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy — which could be a fake name for now as he is heavily rumored to be playing Obadiah Stane's son, Zeke — and Sacha Baron Cohen in a role listed as Mystery Man — rumored to be the MCU debut of Mephisto.

Ironheart story details were also provided by the same US Copyright Office filing that revealed Ehrenreich and Cohen's roles. A synopsis for Marvel's Ironheart reads: "Marvel Studios presents “Ironheart” in which charming teenage super genius Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) returns from MIT to her hometown of Chicago in her iron suit and begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep." The threads that Riri unravels will set up the MCU's very first project that deeply explores a face-off between technology and magic, as The Hood deals in dark magic.

While that magic versus technology battle is exciting, MCU fans apparently will have to wait longer than expected for it. Initially slated for a Fall 2023 release, the US Copyright Office filing appears to reveal that Ironheart's release date was pushed back to 2025. September 3, 2025, is listed as the "Projected Date of Publication" for Ironheart. While the date could be accurate, no official word has come from Marvel Studios. Whenever the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, Marvel should confirm any possible release date changes, so those excited about Riri's return in Ironheart will have to keep their eyes peeled for an announcement.
