Amber Heard was almost fired from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with at least two of the actress' scenes in the DCEU movie getting cut. Heard returns as Mera for the DCEU's last movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, though the actress only has a reduced role in the film. Now, a new report reveals that even that reduced role could have been excluded from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's cast.

Variety shared a comprehensive report on Heard's role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The report details what notes from the highly publicized Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial revealed of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Variety reports that Heard was initially told she should not return for the movie after 2018's Aquaman debuted due to her and Momoa's "lack of chemistry." The studio never went through with the firing due to Heard's former boyfriend, Elon Musk, having his legal team send a threatening letter to Warner Bros. to get Heard reinstated. The report also claims that at least two of Heard's scenes as Mera were cut from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom — an action sequence with Mera going up against Black Manta and a love scene with Momoa's Aquaman.

Why Amber Heard's Scenes Were Cut From Aquaman 2

The report paints a troubled picture of the DCEU's last movie, and it is possible that Heard's revealed cut scenes were scrapped due to her clashing with both leading man Momoa and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan. Momoa was allegedly drunk on the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom set, according to "raw notes" from Heard's sessions with her therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes, as revealed by the report.

Momoa's alleged state led to some rough situations for Heard, according to the actress' words in the notes presented during the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial. Momoa allegedly dressed like Johnny Depp on set and wanted Heard to be fired, which a DC spokesperson claimed was untrue, stating, "Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’"

As for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director Wan, the therapy session notes claim he raised his voice at Heard and that she said he "made it like it was [her] fault." DC's spokesperson also refuted the comments regarding Wan, saying, "James is known for treating members of his cast and crew with the utmost respect and for fostering a positive, collaborative environment on set — the ‘Aquaman’ films were no exception." Due to Heard's strong words about Momoa and Wan — and Warner initially not wanting to have Heard in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom — it's easy to see why at least two of Mera's scenes were cut.
