Jason Blum confirms Five Nights At Freddy's Easter Eggs from beyond the first game in the movie, and Emma Tammi describes Scott Cothin as the movie's "guiding post for which Easter eggs to include." Five Nights At Freddy's is a wildly popular video game franchise that has an expansive lore that has evolved over the course of the games. The movie is expected to go back to the heart of the original game, with Mike Shmidt (Hutcherson) taking overnight shift security duty at the long-abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.

During New York Comic Con, Screen Rant spoke with Blum and Tammi about Five Nights At Freddy's. Blum promises Easter eggs from more than just the first game, but stays mum on the details. Tammi revealed that Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights At Freddy's, was instrumental in deciding which Easter eggs should be included in the movie. Check out their full quotes below:

Jason Blum: Yes, we did a lot of that, but you'll have to see the movie to see them.

Emma Tammi: I will say Scott Cawthon was our real guiding post for which Easter eggs to include, and we would bring some ideas to the table and see if he thought it was a good idea. So yeah, it was a collaboration and a lot of the department heads were also thinking of ways to incorporate Easter eggs into the set design or the costumes and it was top of mind for everyone.

Five Nights At Freddy's Will Incorporate Easter Eggs From Later Games

It seems Five Nights At Freddy's fans will need to be on the lookout for Easter eggs throughout the movie. Perhaps most exciting is the news that these Easter eggs will include more than just details from the original game but instead reference the more expansive lore that has drawn so many in over the years. Obviously, the main animatronic mascots, Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, are front and center, but the movie could include nods to other iconic characters like Circus Baby, The Mediocre Melodies, or Balloon Boy.

Five Nights At Freddy's could easily be the start of an expansive franchise branching off into sequels and spin-offs. By incorporating Easter eggs from beyond the first game, they not only reward fans but also lay the groundwork for future projects. The dark history behind William Afton is rich material to mine, and the movies can make it more cohesive and succinct.

Having Scott Cawthon guide the crew on which Easter eggs to include means that they have the direct source. He'll be able to point to the perfect opportunities and could help them drop hints in every corner of the movie, including set design and wardrobe. While Five Nights At Freddy's will expand the character arcs, focusing more heavily on the backstory of Mike Schmidt, it is exciting for fans to know going in that they could see some of their favorite details from later games in the Blumouse adaptation.
