While the exact date in February that the show will premiere hasn't been revealed, there are a few major events that the show could end up attempting to tie in to. The first could be Super Bowl LVIII, which is set to be played on February 11. Positioning releases post-Super Bowl is a longstanding tradition for titles as varied as supersized episodes of Friends and The Office and the surprise Netflix release of The Cloverfield Paradox, and a similar strategy could potentially help boost the premiere of the new spinoff.

That date makes sense as a possibility, because The Walking Dead and its spinoffs have typically been given Sunday timeslots on AMC. However, if it airs the following weekend on February 18, it could mean that the show is trying to capitalize on the Valentine's Day holiday, which occurs on February 14. Because of the romantic relationship between Rick and Michonne that formed a major throughline of the original series, this release could be an attempt to highlight the couple at the show's center, despite its apocalyptic premise.

One unique thing about this release window is that it will mark the earliest in the year that a Walking Dead show has ever premiered. The next earliest premiere date was for Fear the Walking Dead season 2, which premiered on April 10, 2016. This early timeslot could be an indication that The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is trying to capitalize on either of the aforementioned events, or merely showcase just how many Walking Dead spinoffs are on the horizon in 2024 that the show needs to make room for.
