As is often the case, the first of the month sees the most new additions to Netflix arriving. October 1 will feature the arrival of a number of popular movies with perhaps the most exciting being the first four Mission: Impossible movies. While Christopher McQuarrie taking helm of the franchise with the fifth movie sent it to another level of success, it is a lot of fun to look back on the first four movies each with its own director and style. Of course, as much as the movies change over the years, Tom Cruise anchors the series with his endearing and committed performance as Ethan Hunt.

There are a number of other notable additions for the month including several Steven Spielberg movies like Saving Private Ryan, War of the Worlds, The Adventures of Tintin and Catch Me If You Can. Beckham is a four-part series that goes in-depth into the life and career of sports icon David Beckham. The series is given unprecedented access, showcasing the various struggles and ambitions of the footballer in an honest and riveting look that is sure to intrigue even those who don’t have a deep passion for the sport.

Also premiering on this day is the series Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. The series takes a look behind the scenes of the origins of the massively successful company Uber and the battle for control that nearly brought it down. October 6 will see one of the most anticipated Netflix movies of the fall. Fair Play stars former Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor and Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich as a couple whose electric relationship begins to unravel when an unexpected promotion changes the dynamic. The movie premiered at Sundance to rave reviews, calling it an intense and sexy drama that many people have been eagerly awaiting ever since. Also premiering on this day are two international titles in the Mexican crime movie A Deadly Invitation about a high-society murder mystery and the Korean movie Ballerina about a disgraced bodyguard on a mission for revenge.

A trio of very different titles arrive on Netflix on October 9. After is the romance story based on the novel by Anna Todd. It stars Josephine Langford as a talented and promising student whose future ambitions are thrown into question when she begins a relationship with a troubled fellow student (Hero Fiennes Tiffin). It's perfect to watch ahead of 2023's After Everything. Also arriving is the Brazilian competition show Stranded with my Mother-in-Law in which couples compete for a prize by competing in a series of challenges while assisted by their mothers-in-law. Finally, young Netflix users will have a new Blippi adventure to enjoy with Blippi’s Big Dino Adventure.

Two more international titles arrive on Netflix on October 10. The Italian family comedy DI4RIES returns for its second season as it further explores the coming-of-age adventures of a group of young students experiencing first romances and complicated friendships. October 11 will see one of the best horror movies of the past decade added to Netflix just in time for a Halloween viewing. It Follows creates the brilliant concept of a deadly curse that is passed from person to person through sex. The movie is a gripping genre movie with It Follows' entity making for one of the most effective movie monsters in recent memory. Also arriving is the documentary Big Vape: The Rise and Fall of Juul takes a look at the fastest-growing company in history and its equally abrupt burnout.

Mike Flangan's horror projects with Netflix have been huge hits, including Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House so there is a lot of anticipation for the latest one arriving on October 12. The Fall of the House of Usher is inspired by the writings of Edgar Allen Poe and centers around a wealthy family heading a pharmaceutical company who are forced to confront dark secrets of their past when tragedy befalls them. The Fall of the House of Usher cast is filled with Flanagan regulars while there is so much rich material in Poe's work that this miniseries will promise a dark and twisted tale.

Also coming to Netflix on October 12 is the horror movie Deliver Us From Evil from genre director Scott Derrickson which stars Eric Bana as a cop who teams with a priest to battle a series of possessions terrorizing New York City. Netflix Family will also see the continuation of the animated series Lego Ninjago: Dragons Rising while the Japanese anime series Good Night World also arrives.

A family-friendly franchise as well as a couple of international movies will be available on Netflix starting on October 13. Following the reboot of the Spy Kids franchise with Spy Kids: Armageddon arriving last month, the first three movies in the hit movie series will be hitting Netflix. The original series starred Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino as international spies who are captured by an evil villain leaving their kids to save the day. The movies are fun action adventures from Robert Rodriguez with roles big-names including Sylvester Stallone, George Clooney, and Steve Buscemi popping up. Also arriving is the Nigerian thriller Ijogbon and Swedish horror-comedy The Conference.

The movie details the brave journey of a young girl who was displaced by the war in Ukraine and attends a summer camp in the Alps where she continues to show her strength and resolve. An Oscar-winning movie and show of Halloween-appropriate offerings hit Netflix on October 17. First up is David O. Russell's comedy drama Silver Linings Playbook which stars Bradley Cooper as a man dealing with bipolar disorder who returns to his parents' home where he strikes up a friendship with a widower (Jennifer Lawrence) who is dealing with her own personal troubles. The movie is a charming and funny story that deals with its subject matter well. It also features a great supporting cast that includes Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker as well as Lawrence's Oscar-winning performance.

Netflix users can also check out the crime documentary The Devil on Trial which explores the first instance a demonic possession was used as a defense in a murder trial in the United States. It is a fascinating legal and crime story that also deals with supernatural beliefs. Families can enjoy the all-age horror-comedy I Woke Up a Vampire which follows a girl who discovers on her 13th birthday that she is half vampire. Finally, the new comedy special Heather McMahan: Son I Never Had will also be available.

A whole host of varied projects arrive on Netflix on October 19. Bodies is an intriguing new UK series that takes a look at four detectives in different timelines who somehow find themselves investigating the same murder with the fate of all history on the line. Another new Netflix Original Series is Neon, a comedy set in the world of music about a group of friends who move to Miami looking for fame but find it is not as easy as they were hoping. Add to that, the paranormal investigation series Ghost Hunters will be adding seasons 8 and 9 just in time for Halloween.

Other notable additions on October 19 include seasons 12 and 13 of the intense competition series American Ninja Warrior. There is also the new anime series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix as well as a couple of international titles with Saudi series Crashing Eid and the Dutch movie Crypto Boy.
