Summary

  • Max is losing nearly 100 titles on October 31, including horror movies like the It sequels and iconic films like A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist.
  • Fans of documentaries should watch Rx Early Detection: A Cancer Journey with Sandra Lee and Which Way Home before they leave Max on October 3 and 5, respectively.
  • Max subscribers should catch up on the anime series To Your Eternity, Season 1, and the adult animated show Mr. Pickles before they are removed on October 8 and 16.

The streaming service Max offers a vast content library of TV shows and movies, as well as original programming and in October, like every month, the service is losing some of its offerings. Max includes content from several brands, such as HBO, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, DC, and Max Originals. After the April 2022 merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc., the streaming service was relaunched as Max on May 23, 2023.

Every month, Max brings on new movies and TV shows to add to its content library, and every month, some are taken away. In October 2023, movies and TV shows are disappearing from Max in a slow trickle before the last day of the month when over 100 titles will be removed. Often, Max removes movies in a franchise or series at the same time, but there are also plenty of standalone movies that will disappear soon as well. The clock is ticking on certain TV and movie titles and those interested should sign on in order not to miss anything.

With Halloween also wrapping up at the end of October, the day will see a lot of horror titles being removed from the platform. Among the most notable ones are the two It sequels that adapt Stephen King's iconic horror story. The movies were seen as successful updates to the story while Bill Skarsgãrd's take on the monster clown Pennywise cemented him as a new horror icon.

There are a number of other notable horror movies being removed from Max at the end of the month. Fans will have to bid farewell to Freddy Krueger with A Nightmare on Elm Street and Was Craven's New Nightmare leaving as well as other horror icons like Jason Voorhees in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday and Leatherface in Leatherface. There are some classics of the genre leaving as well with 1978's Invasion of the Body Snatchers and William Friedkin's The Exorcist.

Outside the horror genre, there are some other great titles Max users will have to say goodbye to. This includes everything from comedies like Friday to crime movies like The Getaway. And fans who are getting excited about the release of Martin Scorsese's The Killers of the Flower Moon will only have a short time to revisit one of his earlier masterpieces with Raging Bull leaving Max on October 31 as well.
