  • Several great movies are also leaving Amazon Prime Video, including family-friendly options like How to Train Your Dragon and Puss in Boots. Don't forget the action classic The Running Man and the dance movie Step Up.

Amazon's streaming service Prime Video boasts a large selection of movies and TV shows in its library available to subscribers, but much of that content is temporary, with a number of titles leaving each month. Like anything from Amazon, movies and TV shows can become out of stock, even when they're digital content. However, some of Amazon Prime Video's offerings disappear on a monthly basis on purpose, planned through contracts with film and television distributors.

While Amazon produces a lot of original content for Amazon Prime Video, the platform licenses most of its movies and shows from other companies, with agreed-upon streaming windows varying in the length of time they're made available. In October 2023, just as plenty of new shows and movies are added to Amazon Prime Video, there are also a number of titles that will be leaving the platform. While Amazon Prime Video still offers endless content for fans to dive into, they may want to check out these titles before they're gone as they include some terrific and entertaining movies that will be missed.

Praised as one of the best legal dramas on television, Ally McBeal stars Calista Flockhart in the title role as a young single lawyer who takes on big cases and is looking for love while working in a Boston law firm along with her ex and his wife. The show handled the legal aspects effectively, but it also had a great sense of humor and could get surreal at times. On the movie side, there are a lot of great ones leaving Amazon Prime Video on October 1 as well. Among them are some notable family-friendly options like How to Train Your Dragon and Puss in Boots. How to Train Your Dragon is a thrilling adventure about a Viking boy who befriends a dragon while Puss in Boots is a Shrek spinoff that likely has more interest now following the surprise critical acclaim of its sequel Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Also leaving is the Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic The Running Man, Wes Craven's thriller Red Eye with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, and the dance movie Step Up with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan.
