Summary

  • Peacock, NBC's streaming service, offers a diverse range of content, including popular shows, movies, and documentaries. However, due to its ever-changing library, some titles will be leaving in October 2023.
  • Peacock has gained popularity by producing original shows and branching out into live sports streaming, attracting a loyal subscriber base. However, this also means that popular movies and TV shows come and go on the platform.
  • Hallmark movies, such as "Mystery Island," "A Very Venice Romance," and "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost," are among the titles leaving Peacock in October. These movies will still be available on Hallmark's networks and may return to Peacock later.

NBC and Universal's signature streaming service Peacock features a wide variety of movies and TV shows that change from month to month, and many big titles are leaving Peacock in October 2023. First launched in July 2020, Peacock hit the ground running by carrying some of the most popular NBC shows and movies from day one. Since then, the streamer has diversified its platform by creating hit original shows like Bel-Air, and it has quickly positioned itself as one of the top subscription services on the market. Despite its wealth of content, Peacock is in a constant state of change, which sees many shows and movies leave each month.

With the backing of a powerful company like NBC, Peacock has thrown its hat in the original content ring and has produced new shows and movies that rival even the best that network TV has to offer. Additionally, the streamer has also branched out into the world of live sports which has made Peacock a live-streaming destination for fans of professional wrestling, soccer, and motorsports. The new shows and movies on Peacock have gained a loyal subscriber base, but with additions also comes the departure of popular content. These movies and TV shows leave Peacock in October 2023.

October 1

Rachel Flowers playing a keyboard in the documentary Hearing Is Believing
  • Hearing is Believing (2017)

One of the first items leaving Peacock in October isn’t a movie or a television series, but a documentary. The documentary subject of Hearing Is Believing is Rachel Flowers. A young woman who lost her sight as an infant after being born premature, Rachel Flowers developed a love for music as a toddler and had perfect pitch. The documentary follows Flowers and her musical talents. Though the documentary is being removed from Peacock, performance videos from Rachel Flowers can still be found on her YouTube channel.

October 2

Charlie Weber and Elizabeth Henstridge in Mystery Island
  • Mystery Island (2023)

Peacock might be the streaming home for networks like NBC, Bravo, and Hallmark, but new content from Hallmark has to be caught quickly by fans. That’s because movies that premiere on one of Hallmark’s networks, like this Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie, are only available on Peacock for 72 hours. Mystery Island was added to Peacock after airing and leaves on October 2. It’s a mystery in the vein of classic Agatha Christie with a group of people at a murder mystery vacation resort when an actual murder occurs, and they all become suspects. Fans who miss the movie while it’s on Peacock can rest assured that it will likely air again on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries throughout the month of October.

October 3

A woman and man stand in front of the water in A Very Venice Romance
  • A Very Venice Romance (2023)

Like Mystery Island, A Very Venice Romance is a Hallmark project, though from the leading network rather than the mystery side of the brand. In it, a young woman travels to Italy to convince a chef to work for her project, but her recruiting doesn’t go as planned. She ends up enrolling in his cooking class to try and convince him. The movie will likely air several times throughout the month on Hallmark and be put back on Peack at a later date since Peacock does rotate through library content from Hallmark as well.

October 6

A woman and two men in the cropped poster for The City Is Mine
  • The City is Mine (2008)

This indie movie takes on the crime drama genre. In it, turf wars are ignited when a drug dealer, newly released from a five-year prison sentence, decides to reclaim his city from the four different factions who wound up in power while he was behind bars, Though it might be leaving Peacock in October, The City Is Mine is also available to watch on several other streaming platforms: Pluto TV, Tubi, Crackle, Plex, and Sling TV.

October 7

Hayden Christiansen looking confused in the empty street in The Vanishing on Seventh Street
  • Vanishing on 7th Street (2010)

This apocalyptic thriller appears to be inspired by the mystery of the disappearing Roanoke colony in the 16th century, an event that is repeatedly referenced in the movie, Starring Hayden Christiansen and John Leguizamo, it follows a group of people who find that nearly everyone in town has vanished during a power outage. The common thread in disappearances is darkness as the light seems to protect those left behind. While monsters are never shown, the narrative maintains its anticipation throughout. Though it won’t be available to stream on Peacock after October, Vanishing on 7th Street can still be found on Tubi, Kanopy, and Vudu.

October 8

Nicolas Cage baring his teeth as Dracula in Renfield
  • Renfield (2023)

Renfield is a Dracula retelling and one of several recent theatrical releases on Peacock. Most of the recent theatrical releases that come to Peacock are only available for a limited time on the streamer. By only allowing movies like Renfield to be on subscription-based-streamers for a small window, studios are still able to earn a profit from rental platforms. Starring Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage, the movie will still be available to rent from other streaming platforms after it leaves Peacock.

October 9

Hannah and Mike talking to a man in Zest for Death
  • A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2023)

Alison Sweeney has appeared in many Hallmark movies over the last 20 years, but the Hannah Swensen Mysteries are probably some of her most popular works. Inspired by a series of novels and made for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries network, this marks the eighth movie since 2015. The series was previously called the Murder, She Baked movies. The movies follow a baker who can’t resist helping solve the mysteries in her small hometown. In this movie, she’s busy planning her wedding when a dead body turns up, and she gets pulled into the mystery. While it’s only available for 72 hours after premiering, there are other Hannah Swensen mystery movies available to watch on Peacock.

October 10

A man and woman talk on the street with a 1920s ghost behind them in 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost
  • 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost (2023)

Another Hallmark entry for October, this mystery will only be available to stream for 72 hours after it premieres. It sees a real estate agent trying to sell a house, only to find that the house is currently occupied by a ghost. The ghost believes that she can’t move on unless she helps the real estate agent find love - specifically with her ex. Though the movie will be leaving Peacock on October 10, it will be airing on Hallmark again on October 12 and October 14, so there will still be more opportunities to watch.

October 15

Johnson and Statham walk toward battle in Hobbs & Shaw.
  • Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
  • Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
  • The Fate of the Furious (2017)
  • Polite Society (2023)
  • Top Chef VIP (Season 2)
  • When Calls the Heart (Season 7)

Polite Society is another recent theatrical release. While it was exclusive to Peacock for a limited amount of time, that time ends in October. Likewise, a handful of Fast & Furious movies will be leaving Peacock in October, but the newest addition to the franchise, Fast X, will still be available to stream on Peacock.

As for the two television shows that see whole seasons leave Peacock on October 15, those are likely the result of making room for more episodes. When series are currently airing on television, with new episodes made available to stream on Peacock after airing, which is the case for both the Top Chef and When Calls The Heart shows, older episodes are removed from Peacock as new ones are added. That’s not the case with library shows like Murder, She Wrote, in which the entire series is available to stream - only with shows that see new content continuously added to Peacock.

October 16

Goldy and Tom in formal wear at a wedding reception looking serious in a Curious Caterer movie
  • Curious Caterer: Fatal Vows (2023)

The Curious Caterer movies are a lot like the Hannah Swensen Mysteries for Hallmark’s networks. Nikki Deloach stars as the titular caterer who frequently finds herself in the middle of murder investigations in the small town where she lives. She assists the detective in charge with her knack for getting people to talk to her. In this installment of the movies, she’s hired to do the menu for the upcoming wedding of the detective’s ex to someone new, but, a mystery gets in the middle of everything. Like other Hallmark properties, it will be added to Peacock after airing, and be available for 72 hours, but there are other Curious Caterer movies available to continue streaming on Peacock.

October 17

Three women laughing in a school hallway in the Hallmark movie Field Day
  • Field Day (2023)

Between its mysteries and its “fall into love” themed releases in October, Hallmark has a lot of new content coming to Peacock, and then immediately leaving the streamer. Field Day is another movie that will air on Hallmark, and then be available for 72 hours on Peacock. Field Day stars Hallmark mainstay Rachel Boston as a woman who moves back to the hometown of her late husband, only to find love again when she becomes involved with the parent-teacher organization at the local school.

October 18

Batman and Robin at the Fortress of Solitude in The Lego Batman Movie
  • The Lego Batman Movie (2017)

In addition to the several Hallmark movies departing Peacock in October, there are also a handful of animated movies aimed at kids leaving as well. The Lego Batman Movie, which pokes fun at some Batman tropes without getting too heavy-handed for kids, will leave Peacock on October 18. Batman fans don’t have to be too sad though. The Lego Batman Movie will still be available to stream on Max, which is fitting since that is the home of most of the DC adaptations available for streaming.

October 19

Despicable Me 3 poster (cropped) featuring Gru and his brother
  • Despicable Me 3 (2017)

One of the newest Despicable Me movies, and the only one available on Peacock, will leave the streamer in mid-October. The movie follows Gru, his adopted daughters, and of course, the Minions in another adventure. After leaving Peacock, the movie will still be available to stream on Freevee. Fans who love the franchise created by Despicable Me will also have a few more days to enjoy another movie in the universe.

October 21

Two women in zero gravity in a spaceship in the Europa Report
  • Europa Report (2013)

Europa Report features a group of astronauts sent to explore Jupiter’s fourth moon when something goes wrong. If space thrillers are what a Peacock subscriber is after though, there are more to watch on Peacock after Europa Report leaves the streamer, like Voyagers. Europa Report won’t be gone from streaming completely either. The movie will still be available on a lot of free streaming platforms: Fubo, Tubi, Kanopy, and Pluto TV.

Minions swimming in the ocean in Minions
  • Minions (2015)

After Despicable Me 3 leaves Peacock, Minions will be available for a few more days. This movie is for the fans who wanted to see more of the villainous henchmen (and their love for bananas) in action. Unfortunately, when it leaves Peacock, it won’t be available to stream for free anywhere. Instead, it will be available to rent through several different platforms.

October 26

A man and woman sit on a bench talking in Wes Craven Presents Don't Look Down
  • Wes Craven Presents Don't Look Down (1998)

Wes Craven has been a prolific figure in the horror genre for decades, but this is not one of his best-known works. That’s because Craven was one of several producers attached to what would have been a horror anthology series. This was the first episode, and each episode would have done a different horror story if the project had moved forward. It didn’t, but this episode, which features a woman joining a therapy group for those afraid of heights after her sister falls from a cliff, lives on. After leaving Peacock, it will still be available to stream on Tubi and Freevee for horror fans who might miss it.

October 27

Vicki Lawrence and Carol Burnett at the Carol Burnett 90th birthday special
  • Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love (2023)

This special honored the comedy legacy of Carol Burnett when it was released earlier in 2023. The special featured a ton of actors who united to celebrate Burnett’s 90th birthday. Those fans who want to relive the special won’t be able to find it on streaming once it leaves Peacock. The Carol Burnett Show, however, will still be on the streamer for fans to enjoy.

October 28

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper on a bed in Serena
  • The Burning Plain (2009)
  • Serena (2014)

A pair of Jennifer Lawrence movies leaves Peacock in October. Both movies are set in historic time periods, but they also take place at very different points in Lawrence’s career. In The Burning Plain, she’s the member of a much larger ensemble with the connective tissue being the Mexican-American border in different time periods. In Serena, she’s one of the leads opposite Bradley Cooper as he plays the man who marries the titular Serena and sees his business dealings begin to suffer. Of course, with Jennifer Larence having such a prolific resume, her movies can be found on plenty of other streaming sites.

October 29

The cast of The Book Club raise glasses on the poster for The Next Chapter
  • Book Club: The Next Chapter (2023)
  • The Carmichael Show (Seasons 1-3)

The sequel to Book Club is a fun watch for those familiar with the recent works of Jane Fonda and Diane Keaton. The movie had an exclusive spot on Peacock after its theatrical run earlier in the year but will be available to rent from other platforms after it ends its run on Peacock. The Carmichael Show, on the other hand, is a sitcom that ran for three seasons on NBC, and since Peacock is the home of NBC-Universal streaming content, subscribers might have expected it to stick around. It will still be available to stream on Hulu instead.

October 30

Angry Hellboy in the 2019 film
  • Hellboy (2019)
  • The Next Three Days (2010)
  • Small Time Crooks (2000)

Interestingly, Hellboy and The Next Three Days are both movies added to Peacock in October. While Hellboy is added to the streamer on October 16, The Next Three Days is added on October 3. That gives both of those movies a pretty narrow window for subscribers to find them and watch them, so they’ve got to be quick to catch the action movies. Both movies, as well as Small Time Crooks, are still available from other streamers, though which ones will likely vary by region.

  • Winchester (2018)
  • The Wolfman (2010)

There is a huge amount of library content leaving Peacock on October 31, but most of that content is related to spooky season. It makes sense that, given Peacock added a lot of horror movies and monster movies for October, many of them would leave once October comes to an end. Horror fans will likely be sad to see the Saw movies go, especially with the most recent part of the franchise in theaters, but even more surprising is the Child’s Play movies leaving Peacock in October. At least the Chucky TV series will still be available to stream. All of this content leaving Peacock will just make room for new additions on November 1.
