To celebrate the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on October 20, Marvel has announced a line of stunning variant covers, showcasing various alternate costumes for Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the game. Launching over November and December, each cover will showcase a different design, as drawn by its original creator.
The covers were revealed in a press release from Marvel, and join a long list of previously revealed suits for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, drawn from movies, comics, and TV. In contrast, these ten costumes (5 for Peter Parker, and 5 for Miles Morales) are totally new creations for the game. The covers will appear on issues leading up to Spider-Man's massive 'Gang War' event, which will see Peter Parker lead a team of street-level heroes against an army of New York's supervillains and organized crime figures in a 48-hour battle for the city. Spider-Man 2's New Costumes Shine in Variant Cover Art
These exciting looks promise awesome new possibilities for players, and redefine Peter and Miles in exciting new ways. The Tokusatsu suit is inspired by the Japanese genre of films and TV, exemplified by franchises like Ultraman, the Kamen Rider series and Super Sentai - the show that acted as the basis for the original Power Rangers series. The Apunkalyptic suit echoes Spider-Man's cyborg look from the comics with a robot arm, while the Stone Monkey suit references Sun Wukong, the protagonist of the iconic Journey to the West. The variant covers will be released on the following issues and dates:

These costumes will be available initially with purchase of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, with a trailer for the release (below) showing each of them in action against the Lizard and Kraven the Hunter's minions. The suits' creators were recruited from across media disciplines, coming from comics, films, and PlayStation Studios. It's likely that these costumes will be seen inside Marvel's comics sooner rather than later - Marvel's Spider-Verse events make it a point to include as many versions of the hero from across as many different types of media as possible, as well as introducing many new versions. This is exciting, since versions of Spider-Man from a punk apocalypse and a Journey to the West-style world would serve to further expand Marvel's multiverse.
