October's New Releases Include Big Names

Likely the most highly anticipated game that is coming up this month is none other than Marvel's Spider-Man 2 which is set to launch on the PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023. It is the sequel to 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, which was met with high acclaim, and any news of its sequel has been closely watched ever since. It will be released on the same day as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which was just recently announced at the June 2023 Nintendo Direct and will be the first 2D side-scrolling Mario game in over a decade. As is the case with all Super Mario Bros. games, it will be exclusively available on Nintendo.

The Assassin's Creed series is also getting another entry, with the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage on October 5. This game brings the series back to its roots with a return to the formula of the game that proved successful in the franchise's beginnings. Speaking of returning to its roots, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 will also be launching this month. This new collection offers an accessible way for a new generation to experience the start of the series, although, obviously, not just new players will enjoy seeing Solid Snake on modern platforms.
